If you want to look sexy at the beach it takes a bit of self care. Here are some tips for being your absolute best this summer.

First thing you should have in your beach beauty bag is a cream shadow. These slick shadows stay on the eyes longer than powder especially if it is really hot and humid. Popular sheds this summer are bright aqua blue and sandy beige.

You should also have a sunscreen, preferably a light spray on one or a light lotion that can be used on the face. The SPF in the sunscreen can help ward off fine lines and wrinkles and can help maintain a youthful glow. There are many make up companies including Kiss My Face, Tocca and Nature’s Gate that make sunscreens that fit the bill.

You can also fake a clear glowing complexion with SPF makeup. This means blotting excess oil or sweat with a light, shimmering powder bronzer. You can now also get undereye concealers that have bronzer in them so you don’t get that “inverse” raccoon look.

Body bronzer is also essential. People often have bronzer for the face in their beach bag but they forget that the body needs work as well. It is a good idea to focus on areas where the sun would usually hit such as shoulders and decolletage.

The mix of sweat and sand on your body can use a bit of disguising sometimes. Fashion fierce bodies smell better if you keep a light fragrance handy such as Infusion de Therese Eau de Parfum Spray or Victoria’s Secret Heavenly Flowers Scent.

If you want your eyeliner to stay on then it is a good idea to wear the ones that look like markers. You can get smudge proof versions of this that stay on forever and that come in different shades. Stila, Stockholm and Sephora all make versions of this.

If you are worried about having “beach hair” then be sure to bring an SPF hair spray to protect it from the sun. Many of these newer hair protectors have heat protection and UV filters built right into their formulas.

There are also lots of waterproof mascaras on the market that can help you avoid developing raccoon eyes. Opt for waterproof mascara that does not make your eyelashes brittle. You can now get formulas with a low wax content with no solvent in them. Added wheat germ oil and vitamin e oil can prevent lashes from breaking!
