Sunglasses for the Slopes

One of the most important accessories for winter ski bunnies is stylish sunglasses. If you do not know which styles are the trendiest this fall, take a look there!
One of the hottest trends of sunglasses this season is Ray-Ban’s Wayfarers. This style of sunglasses was particularly popular in 1950’s and 1960’s. This year they made a significant came back. Such sunglasses come in classic black, vintage bright colors,
The seventies style thicker eye glass frames have been popular for many years already. However, you should be very careful if you decide to choose this retro style - inspired protections of sun. They can look dorky if they are too big.
Tortoise shell glasses are all still very hot this year. Stylists think that they will probably go out of style soon, but this year they are still fashionable. They are universal because they can be worn with any style of clothes.
One of the latest trends in sunglasses are the gradient lens. These were popular in the seventies and they are back again. These sunglasses emphasize lenses, which are usually half shaded from top to bottom, and not frames.
The round “John Lennon” style sunglasses are associated with such celebrities as Philip Johnson, Le Corbusier, Ghandi and Dominick Dunne This year “John Lennon” style sunglasses made a huge come back especially for women. So, if you want to attract lots of attention, these unusually looking sunglasses are a perfect choise for you! Make sure they suit their face shape before you try them on.
Rimless aviators continue to be fashion fierce and they look great on the ski slopes. This season they give us a sleek and modern look. They will look especially good with sporty winter clothing as do the gradient lenses. In fact rimless aviator styles that have that graduated color on the lenses are very hot on the ski slopes. Just remember that they should not be worn for active skiing or you could cut yourself with the rim if you have an accident. There are ski goggles that you can buy that have sunglass lenses so you can protect your eyes from UV rays on the slopes.
Oversized sunglasses were hot this winter and they are still hot this summer. Many designers have included this style in their collections and many celebrities boast them to have that cool sixties look. Such sunglasses look great with large, oversized costume jewelry and broader cut eighties shoulders.
Also quite trendy still are whit framed sunglasses even though fashion experts have been predicting that they will go out of style any year now!

Fashionable Boots for 2009

Boots are back are back in style for Fall and Winter 2009. It’s that simple. However these boots are a little more glamorous then practically. They are not the big flat army boots with treads meant for inclement weather.
This fall and winter the boots are a lot more exotic. Designers have modernized this fashionable fall footwear and the result is an exciting mix of heel heights, fabrics, details and colors. You’ll look chic from top to toe whether you pair your new skinny jeans or ’70s-print mod dress with a lovely lace-front boot or a slouchy style. The great news is that a lot of these boots are quite comfortable as they are made from softer materials like suede.
Flat boots don’t sound that sexy but flat can be just as sexy and fashionable as high-heel boots. It is all in the way the boot is constructed. These boots come in all kinds of different colors including rich tones of suede, leather and crocodile. This fall trend is now everywhere in stores. The good news is that they go with everything as well. Paired with skirts, dresses or pants ‑- tucked in or left out ‑- flat boots are the ultimate union of comfort and fashion. The fact that they are softer as a look also makes them look less constructed and less like they look like something off of a star trek episode.
Cowboy boots and western style boots are also very hot for this fall. You can try matching them up with a cardigan and jeans and a wide belt. Cowboy boots have always gone fantastically with all Western gear.
Lace up boots is also big for fall. The higher the calf of the boot the sexier and more in it is. They were very fashion fierce on the fashion runways. They look great with the modern military look of coats and jackets. They also look great with the romantic Victorian inspired styles that are so popular as well.
As the boho-chic look continues into fall, slouch boots really look great with a printed empire line jersey dress, jeans or skirts of any length. Your rule of thumb for the skirt and slouch-boot combo should be the shorter the skirt, the higher the boot. As with the other hot looking for Fall 2009, don’t limit yourself to brown or black. Colors like grey, violet and pink are also really big for this fall. You might even see the occasional mint green pair of boots out there.

Fashionable Rattles for Babies

Rattles are no longer just a ball with beads inside that is shaken like a stick. Nowadays they come in all shapes and sizes and even covered in fabric! The soft ones are called plush rattles and they are very popular because you can transport them easily.
Some of the niftiest rattles are to be found at Polka Dot Whale. One great find is the big soft Carrot Rattle. This looks like enormous carrot and your baby can shake rattle and roll this humorous looking toy for hours.
Plush rattles also come with soft wrist straps that are attached with velour fastening. Among the cutest are the Blue Puppy, the Blow Fish and the Big Bug that is made by Bunnies by the Bay. Bunnies by the Bay also make the Big Carrot.
The great thing about a soft plush rattle is that it is impossible for your baby to poke him or she in the eye. Babies are just not very coordinated.
If you like plastic baby rattles then consider getting your child a clear baby rattle. There are wonderful ones available right now. Perhaps one of the most popular models are the ones that look like little barbells. The entire body of these rattles are see through and you can see the beads shaking around inside of it. This is fascinating for a baby who may be amused for hours.
Some of them have metal middles that make these rattles even more of a noisemaker. Small tiny Chinese bells might also be attached to the rattle to make it almost useful as a musical instrument.
Before purchasing one of these rattles make sure it is high quality and that it is safe. There should be no plastic seams on it that could cut the baby in any way and the plastic should be durable and hard.
You can find all kinds of high quality safety approved rattles like this at the Baby Mine store.
Do you like baby rattles that very traditional. Then you will love the Baby Heirloom Rattle. This is a very simply constructed rattle that is made by a company called Maple Landmark
The rattle body is basically the shape of a doorknob and the entire rattle is covered with a type of clear protiective finish, called the Clear Child Safe Finish. The actually noise maker part of the rattle looks like a narrow tubular cage with five bars and inside this cavity there are shiny silver round bells. These bells are small and look like the type of bells that decorate horse reins. When your child starts shaking them you will think of Christmas
Despite its simple construction this rattle can make a lot of noise and babies seem to love it. Furthermore a quality rattle like this it is practically indestructible and is destined to be handed down through your family.

Hot Wedding Reception Trends

The U.K. website You and Your Wedding has some interesting suggestion about how to make your wedding reception really exceptional this year.
In terms of canapés the hottest offerings are foods that look like sushi but are not really sushi. An example is the mini roast beef and Yorkshire pudding or the strawberry rolled in fondant and coconut.
There is also a trend towards ice sculptures but unlike your standard swan sculpture it is quite cool to embed fairy lights in the sculpture.
When it comes to fountains some individuals are still discovering the chocolate fountain into which people immerse chunks of fruit. However to be on the cutting edge you might want to consider a coulis fountain. In this case it is pureed fruit like mango or raspberries that courses through the fountain.
Want to hold your wedding the same way that the celebrities do? In this case You and Your Wedding recommends having a make up artist on staff all day to do people’s make up!
There are other very interesting trends in weddings to look out for this year.
One of them ions the use of black orchids. White orchids are boring according to the paper. Black orchids are where it is at because they are so rare ( and expensive too at roughly 800 bucks per floral arrangement!) Of course black wedding dresses are also in.
The other big trend? Giving your guests an iPod Nano loaded with your favorite tunes rather than the usual little packet of cocoa, plant or bag of candies. This way couples that are at your wedding can remember your love by dancing to your tunes.
When it comes to seating arrangements you no longer have to worry about who gets to sit at your table. Sweetheart tables, that only sit the bride and the groom, are recommended so that you don’t have to worry about who has to sit with you.
Do you want to add a touch of color to your snow white wedding. Why not add rose-colored metallic ribbons and other metallic colors to give it a magical and glamorous look. Touches of gold are also very pure and elegant looking on a wedding table and less expected than silver. This is particularly enchanting for a winter wedding

Fashion Fierce Baby Clothes

Winter is coming and you want your baby to be cozy but also very fashionable.
Want to dress your child in classic yet very trendy duds? Why not go for some classic Ralph Lauren Polo designs. These never go out of style. They are as fashionable this fall as they were last autumn. They keep your child looking hip, yet traditional.
Ralph Lauren tends to dress babies the same way he dresses adults – like they are about to bound out and play tennis with royalty. In fact one of the signatures Ralph Lauren Polo baby items is a blue and white striped rugby suit that makes your baby look like he or she just crawled out of prison.
Your kid might also look very fashionable in the Ralph Lauren Polo Navy Aviator which is a navy blue zip front jacket with a standing collar and hood.
Believe it or not Lauren also puts images like bears on his jumpers. The Ralph Lauren bear is often pictured with a spotted dog and he looks like a taller more mature version of Whinnied the Pooh.
One of the cutest of Ralph Polo baby items is the baby socks. He offers a cute blue and white striped set for boys and a bright pink and white set for girls.
Of course all of these clothes have the prestigious polo emblem.
The clothing line Diesel has been associated with biker chic or rockabilly chic for a long time. Now you can dress up your progeny like they belong on the set of a Quentin Tarantino film as wall.
Diesel makes jeans for kids and of course they fit just right and are faded in the right places. You can expect to pay about ninety dollars a pair for these.
Another cute item is the wild purple tie dye tights for little toddlers made by Diesel. These have a bit of a hippy look to them. You can also get printed t-shirts with three quarter length sleeves in pink and yellow.
The pink one is called the Treasure Box T-Shirt and is thick with embroidery. The yellow version is a little tougher with tattoo like designs and Goth writing on it about exploring the Antarctica. These shirts go well with any of the famous brand’s jeans for babies including their short legged Busky Baby Jeans.
Diesel is probably the only company that makes a dark navy fur lined aviator style jacket for boys. This makes your baby look very trendy, hip and cool

Trendy Champagne Cocktails

If you are throwing a cocktail party champagne cocktails are very hip again. One of the most traditional of drinks to serve at any wedding is the classic champagne cocktail. These are drinks where champagne or sparkling wine offset other alcohol choices.
The site “The Fifty Best Champagne Cocktails” has a great comprehensive list of contemporary champagne cocktails. However at the top of theist is the classic Bellini, which is champagne, mixed with peach puree and orange juice.
If your wedding is in the morning you might want to try a Morning Glory, which is Cointreau, cherry brandy, pineapple slices and champagne.
The guys at your party might go for a Black Velvet which is champagne mixed with chilled stout. A Mimosa is more delicate and features champagne mixed with orange juice. If you want a pink colored wedding Champagne Cocktail then try a Poinsetta which is champagne mixed with Cranberry juice. A very classic purple colored drink is a Kir which is crème de cassis liqueur with wine or champagne.
What is a wedding without champagne? When you are serving sparkling wine or champagne at a wedding it is probably not a good idea to serve the best of the best simply because not everyone at a wedding is a wine expert. You can invest the money but that does not mean it will be appreciated.
Avant Bride recommends a couple of selections that are both affordable and sophisticated. One of them is Veuve du Vernay which is a bubbly pink or white wine that is a real bargain at only nine dollars a bottle.
Another popular choice under ten dollars is Freixenet which costs under ten dollars. It is a smooth bubbly champagne colored wine that is made near Barcelona.
A slightly more expensive choice is Argyle Brut which costs between twenty and twenty four bucks a bottle. Many who try this say it tastes like a much more expensive forty dollar bottle of wine like Veuve Cliquot.
If you want a glamorous at your wedding try presenting a champagne fountain. Real champagne fountains are not made of plastic. They are metal beauties that are made out of wine glasses that sit on special tiers. You can get them in three to six to eight tier versions. The more tiers the more gorgeous the waterfall of champagne looks as it spills into the glasses.
It is possible to have sixty, forty or twenty champagne flutes or bell shaped glasses filling in the champagne fountain at any one time. They come with light boxes that have them illuminated in different colors and the effect really is gorgeous. The glasses are lit from beneath in neon pink, lime or yellow hues. They can also be rigged up with silver cups or with tinted liquids such as pink champagne.

How to Look Like an Eighties Dancing Queen

One of the coolest looks this fall and winter is that retro eighties face which is very sparkly and vivid. The effect you want is to look a little bit like a parrot. This means the entire eye area is coated with multi-colored shadows. The effect should be very sexy and the entire face should look downy and glittery – almost like it was made out of velvet.
The key to getting this look is to prime your face with a very white foundation and then put bronzer under the cheekbones and temples. Be sure to contour your face a lot because they were really into that in the eighties. Suck in your cheeks and apply a lot of bronzer in the hollow of your cheeks to get that icy Studio 54 type face that was so chiseled in structure and that went so well with those padded shoulders. A bit of powder was also always put right under the nose tip to make it look narrower and more turned up. If you like you can put darker bronze face powder beneath a double chin to minimize it.
Although contouring was a real trend the really big cool thing about eighties was the eye shadow. Nowadays the eye shadows that are made in outrageous colors are even more vivid than ever so this effect of having eyes that look like beautiful bird’s wings is even more exaggerated.
A classic color combination is to apply lime green all over the inner part of the eye over the lid and over the pupil and then decorate it with a generous sweep of purple out at the corners. You can extend these colors to the height of your eyebrow and the more glittery. Using the sparkling mineral based eye shadows that are on the market nowadays succeed very well for creating unique and very glamorous looks.
In the eighties they did not wear fake eyelashes as much as we do now and the retro effect is accomplished with or without them. The mascara was not always thick looking with this look although it does look good. You are best to go more with feathery lashes that are long at the edges of the eyes (kind of like the eyelashes boasted by Tweedy Bird in the Warner Brothers cartoon.)
They also used a lot of eye shadow pencil as opposed to eyeliner so the eyeliner blended more into the actual eye shadow. Using a bright parrot or electric blue eyeliner would work well with these colors.\

Cool Lipstick Packaging is Hot

Lipstick packaging has always been important to women. No matter how shallow it seems there is just something to having a glamorous shiny designer tube of lipstick in your pocket or purse.
One of the best lipstick tubes is made by Candyfuture. This company has sixties style pink plastic with fluorescent holographic images of dancing unicorns on it. The company also makes very bizarre lipstick colors including a very pink fluorescent color, a dark grey black and a glistening lilac color. Trust us, they don’t make these colors in nature.
Yet another spectacular example of design that is less little girlish in nature than Candyfuture’s whimsical bullet shapes is Gurlain Rouge G lipstock. If a girl was James Bond this is the lipstick application weapon she would have on her. The lipstick case looks like a cross between a switchblade and a lighter. It is a very sleek and smooth silver with Geurlain engraved on it. Even cooler the top of the lipstick splits in half to reveal a mirror so you can apply it. It is not just a lipstick applicator! It is a very cool gadget!
Of course you can’t go wrong with the classy Chanel Allure Lipsticks. These are square cases with square bottoms. The upper casing is black and the rest of the spiraling chassis is a pure classy gold.
Very very classy and sought after these days are the designer lipstick cases made by Bésame. These are made of gorgeous, richly pigmented colors—like noir red and peacock blue—and are reproduced from the old silver screen and are housed in gold lacquer packaging embossed with chrysanthemum detailing. The lipstick case is very short and slim and almost the size of a sample. They are not much bigger than a woman’s pinky which makes them very feminine and very delicate looking.
Avon’s Mark line of cosmetics is pitched at teens on the go, the kinds of girls who are more interested in sharing makeup among friends than acquiring an arsenal of cosmetics at home. To that end, New York designer Jerome Berard shrunk the tube itself into a miniature, pocket-friendly size by incorporating the rotating mechanism into the base. The result is the smallest case on the market containing a full bullet of gloss, with rounded corners that make the case easy to slip in and out of denim pockets.
If you like really slim cases for lipsticks then both Clinique and The Body Shape makes this style. The lipstick case design is about one third thinner and very elegant. Both companies make this spiraling case in silver and they look like designer lipsticks but at a much more affordable price.

Hot Eyeliner Trends for Fall

Eyeliner is back for fall. Think Amy Winehouse and you get the idea. You need to lay it on thick in a freehand way so that you look very wanton, seductive and retro in appearance. This concept is very eighties and looks fantastic with the bright copper and darker blue and black eye shadow colors that are now in fashion as well.
On the runways of Prada, Louis Vuitton and Dior the eyes had a very strong razor sharp flick to the end of the eyes to look cat like. The eyeliner was very thick lined and false eyelashes were individually attached to the outside corners of the eyes to elongate them and make them look more exotic. Many companies including Revlon make false eyelashes that you can glue on individually or you can take existing false eyelash fronds and cut them in half and glue them onto one part of your eye.
On the Versace runway this fall eyeliner is used like calligraphy in small dashes, dots and lines to make the eyes look larger and more alive. It also makes the eyes look bigger. A thick cream liner like Shiseido’s Accentuating Cream Liner. Eva Longoria and Penelope Cruz often wear eyeliner in this style.
Another look is the Glam Punk effect. This is where the eyeliner is worn carelessly like it has been slept in. The line on the upper lid is very thick but there is no eyeliner at all on the bottom lid.
Another big trend that was surprising is that for white eyeliner. This was often worn in conjunction with thick black liner. This is such a popular trend that many brands are making a double version of it with the black color on one end of the pencil and the white on the other. An example is the Bourjois 21-in-1 Noir & Blanc Eye Pencile which costs about twelve bucks. A cheaper version of this double ended pencil is made by Rimmel and it is only about three bucks in most drugstores. This means that you can try out this trend for white liner without feeling the pinch in your pocket book.
Another trend is to wear bold blue eyeliners. The reason these are popular is because they are supposed to make your teeth and the whites of your eyes look even whiter. The darker blue the color the better rested you are supposed to look when you wear it.
The best eyeliners on the market for attempting these looks are Revlon Bedroom Eyes, Prescriptive Lucky Stroke, Chanel Ligne Extreme and Clarins Eyeliner. If you like something that is a bit more like a pencil then you will like Bobbi Brown’s Gel Liner. You will like it whether you are trying to look like Brigitte Bardot or Amy Winehouse.

Eye Shadow Trends For Fall/Winter

Not everyone wears eye shadow as a more natural look has been in style for quite some time however there are some extreme eye shadow shades that are going to be fashion fierce for this fall.
A hot color for fall is a red copper color. According to Glamour Magazine this particular eye shadow color, which makes it look like you have been crying for hours is hot because Jennifer Connelly, , wore it on the red carpet recently. It is a very strong color and looks best with very bright red lipstick.
The color first made a sensation when actress Olivia Ward wore a sparkling metallic version of it with lots of black eyeliner. However the look that Jennifer Connelly boasts is much more natural and hippie like. Without the eyeliner the bright red eyeliner is much more suitable for day wear. It looks great with hazel, green or very bright blue yes.
Similar shades that are not so extreme are dark pink, brick and burgundy. However nothing beats the genuine glimmer of a true copper color.
Another hot eye shadow trend, according to fashion blogger Carmindy is grey eye shadow. Particularly fashion fierce is grey eye shadow that has a bit of a purple tinge to it. This color is very versatile and can be worn with anything. You can wear it softly so that it is unintrusive and very sheer or you can wear it with thick black eyeliner for a very sexy and smoky look.
This grey shadow also goes great with smoky dark blue or plum eyeliner. Sally Hansen makes a good brand.
The eighties look is still with us which means that we will be wearing heavy black and blue eye shadow. According Elle Magazine black eye shadow was seen on a lot of runways. It is very rock’n’roll especially if worn with eyeliner that is applied inside the eyelid on the rim. This is the way that Cleopatra used to wear her eye make up in ancient Eygpt and it is also the way that Andy Warhol era style icon Edie Sedgewick used to wear her eye makeup as well.
This goes hand in hand with very dramatic brows which for some people means coloring in the brows with a pencil one to two shades darker than your natural brows. It also means wearing very bold red lips in colors like burgundy or slick scarlet.
The neutral face is also in fashion and that translates into meaning that you don’t wear any eye shadow at all. You might however be wearing a bit of dewy looking foundation right on your eyelids instead or just a hint of Vaseline or powder. A touch of very light yellow or gold eye shadow can give a youthful natural look to eyes as well.
