Wedding Dress Trends for 2009
Last Fall and Spring we were given a taste of what the wedding dress trends might be for the 2009, There were several influences on wedding garments that were of note that gave us a hint of the type of thing we are going to see floating down the aisle on happy brides – most notably these were the embroidery tern, the empire waist, the colors pink and blue, the mini dress and the bandeaux style bodice.
For one thing embroidery on dresses is going to be a hot as it originally was in the seventies. Flower embroidery in contrasting thread colors on the classic white gown includes burgundy, black, navy and dark green. These go best on Victorian designs but you are going to see this type of festive touch on muslin and peasant style gowns as well.
The Empire Waist Goddess Gown is also going to be stylish, particularly in the more unusual colors like deep purple, gold or light pink. These gowns are particularly flattering for women that are statuesque and want to look like a Goddess come to life walking down the aisle.
Pink and blue dresses are also hot for this season, especially dresses that have both hues in one dress design. The entire dress that is blue is very reminiscent of the sixties wedding and even your shoes and hat are blue. The all pink dress however is very classic and more sixties. You have to be pretty girly to wear only pink at your wedding.
For those brides with great legs you will also be happy to know that miniskirts are also still very much in vogue. Think again about Mia Farrow and the lace number that she wore when she got hitched to Frank Sinatra in the sixties. For a high end wedding dress like this try shopping for the ones at Oscar De La Renta. This designer was, in fact, one of the first to design this type of dress in the first place.
The bandeaux dress has been seen as a bridal offering but in most of the designs walking down the runways the bandeaux is only in the bodice of the dress. The skirt may fall from a drop bandeaux style waist that hugs the bride’s curve or it may simply cut into a full skirt at the waist. The designer Zac Posen also makes a fantastic bandeax style dress as well.
