The Year 2009 is going to see some very interesting make up trends and of course much of it is going to seem familiar. That is because makeup trends repeat themselves. The era that is most likely to repeat itself this spring is a Goth or eighties makeup look with the pure primary bold colors.
This is certainly true of the lipstick trends for 2009. The looks that are going to be considered to be the most stylish are going to be the deep reds, blueberries and burgundies. Lipstick that is glossy and black is also coming back into fashion. These looks will ahead been seen on the runways of designers like Carolina Herrara, and Donna Karan.
To pull these looks off without looking like a vampire, make up experts suggest wearing next to no make up elsewhere on the face. This emphasizes the lips only. A touch of white eyeliner with bright red lips looks very contemporary. You don’t even need to wear mascara. The same is true with the eyes. If you decide to really do your eyes then leave the lips natural or pale. The fashion will be to focus on one place on the face.
As for eyebrows, the thicker and darker they are the more in style they will be. Comb stray hairs upwards to make them seem even thicker. This type of style was signature to the makeup looks offered by Jeremy Laing, Prada, Philip Lim, Fend and other prominent designers. Think Marguaux Hemingway in the eighties and you get an idea of the look that is coming up in style
If you want to have cool bridal make up this wedding season start thinking like David Bowe and the type of make up that he wore when he was in those Mick Rock videos.
Bright blue make up in both powder blue and electric blue shades is also making going to be hot on the eyelids for spring.. This is part of the eighties redux as well. The idea is to find make up that is as vivid as possible. This make up is worn all over the eyelid in thick blocks. This look has been seen on the runways of Tuleh, Nina Ricci and Oscar de La Renta as well. Mac Cosmetics is a good source of these types of mascara colors as well.
Smoky bedroom eyes are also a real trend especially if mixed with gold. Dark eye makeup rarely goes out of style and hits year it was prevalent at Gucci, Lagerfeld and Chanel. The raccoon look made popular in the eighties, is also back and women will definitely be wearing darker eye shadow than usual with the added interest of sprinkles of stardust.

If you to be right in step with the fashion trends this spring then consider getting a sexy fringe as part of your makeover for spring. This simply means getting long sexy bangs. There are several types of fringes you can get but the one that is most popular and that is the safest choice in terms of not looking messy or lopsided is called the Blunt Fringe.
With the blunt fringe the hair is cut evenly and straight across from temple to temple and straight across from temple to temple. It is not a fussy type of haircut at all.
You can also get a Kate Moss style of fringe bangs. This type of hairstyle is more feathered. The bangs that are a little uneven and sit slightly in front of the eyes. This is not the most practical style but it is sought after ever since Kate Moss got rid of her center part and decided to sport bangs that covered her eyebrows instead.
You could also consider getting a pixie fringe which is essentially the shortest, Betty Page, style of bang. Betty Page looks are expected to be more popular than ever since the famous burlesque dancer passed away. You can expect this to be a prominent trend on brides about to walk down the aisle as well.
Of the two styles the Betty Page style of bangs is preferable if you want to see clearly. The Kate Moss fringe is messy and you will be peering through your bangs. Not good if you work in a profession that requires great vision1
The Pixie cut, also called the Crop, is back. Think Mia Farrow in Rosemary’s Baby… These crops are boyish cuts but they feature haircuts with very long bangs. It is a pert boyish hairdo but also very attractive. Victoria Beckham is the example of a celebrity who had a pixie.
Yet another important hair trend is the sleek side part. This is a seventies part where the hair is slicked right across the side of the head. The hair can also be tied up near the nape of the neck for a neater effect. It is popular with brides who want to make a tiara a show piece.
Styles from the thirties and forties are also popular. These are side swept romantic styles that are soft and feminine. This style is not as wild as it can be this year as the idea is not too look too all over the place. The look should be romantic, yet restrained with only a few escaping strands.
Those butch haircuts from the eighties are also back. These do have had big bangs that were slicked straight up or done rockabilly style. You can wear this type of hairdo in a stiff way or more loosely with just a touch of gel.

When spring comes the rain starts to fall and that is when we start to see trench coats coming back into demand. Spring 2009 promises the public all kinds of very interesting trench coat designs.
For instance Juicy Couture is offering stretch cotton trench coats in a vivid pink. This style is very “Georgy Girl.” It is knee length and features bug buttons and buckles on the slightly shorter cuffs. The collar is also round and the double breasted coat also boasts epaulets.
Is there anything sexier than a white trench coat? It is so Catherine Denenuve. You can get a white trench coat from the company Rock and Republic that is all white and boasts the belted cuffs and a very sharp looking oversized collar. A belt with gold details cinches in the waist.
For a more demure military look, kind of like the look that the Rock band the Psychedelic furs used to wear try on the Cotton polyurethane trench coat by Cinzia Rocca which sells for about eight hundred dollars at Saks Fifth Avenue. It is a stormy grey blue color and comes just above the knee.
A more deconstructed version of the trenchcoat is offered by the design house of Chanel for Spring 2009. This particular coat has a skirt made out of ridged strips of fabric with fringes, very narrow sleeves and more suit like top. There are epaulets on the shoulders, buckles on the sleeves and broad pockets with fold over flaps over the bosom. The coat is a soft ivory white and it is cinched in at the waist by a turquoise black and gold square shaped belt buckle.
That bright electric blue is also going to show up in trenchcoats this season. Burberry is marketing a very vivid knee length version of one with black piping on the pockets and huge black buttons on it.
That distortion of the trench coat, the safari jacket is also making a comeback for spring. Sleeveless safari style vests are making a comeback, particularly in the bone white colors. Banana republic makes an affordable version of a safari style cotton vest that is only $130.00. It looks best cinched with a brown leather belt.
Nicole Miller makes a beautiful version of a Safari Jacket that is military in style. It is a four pocket leather jacket in a very soft mushroom color and it has a turquoise lining. It is the kind of jacket that goes with anything but it costs $1,170.
You don’t have to despair if you cannot afford these high prices. They will be immediately available to you as knock offs in every store imaginable including Walmart, Smart Set and the other big chains. Furthermore the designs you see on runways tend to be more practical then the ones you see elsewhere.

Remember the big wide skirts of the dresses from the fifties? We are going to see these full skirted dresses yet again.
One of the classiest of these retro dresses is by designer Jason Wu. He is selling a strapless prom style dress with a lipstick pink bodice and skirt that is striated with white. The effect is very Italian and very elegant. This type of look is quite pricey. A retro vintage look like this from Jason Wu runs at about two thousand dollars per dress at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York.
Liz Clairborne has made a very elegant prom style dress in acid lime green. It has an elastic waist and a burgeoning skirt that hits mid- calf. It costs about two hundred dollars and is definitely a dress that will have you stand out in a crowd. The color is very reminiscent of the late eighties when neon was in but the cut of the dress is very classically fifties.
The hip as heck designer Betsey Johnson has also gotten into the act with a bright blue dress inspired by the fifties. It has eyelet insets in the hem and along the top of an elaborate bodice which is also punctuated by a brilliant bow. It comes to just above the knee and probably looks best on the younger generation. In stores and on Betsy Johnson’s website this dress is selling for about four hundred dollars.
Louis Vuitton takes a more deconstructed approach to the whole prom dress look by taking a fifties bodice and then cutting the dress into strips. Instead of the usual solid colored satin gloves he pairs it with see through purple gloves made out of elegant chiffon.
Super Designer Christian Lacroix also gets into the act with a steel grey design with beautiful al fresco type lace imprinting. The bodice is fifties style and strapless and the skirt is very full but without the crinoline below. This type of dress will typically run you a couple of grand at a famous designer house like Christian Lacroix. Yet another kookier version of one of these dresses by Lacroix looks practically like a parachute with a bodice but one that has been scrawled over with colourful street tags and huge floral motifs. The design is so “out there” it is simply not for everyone.
Fendi takes a more elegant take by making a dress that is cut low to the belly with bell angel wing sleeves and a skirt that reaches mid calf. If you can imagine a dress that is a cross between an angel gown and a prom dress then you get the idea of what the elegant designer Fendi has been up to lately.

The goddess looks so reminiscent of forties or fifties Hollywood celebrities attending glamorous cocktail parties. This season we will see all kinds of dress designs reminiscent of the fifties Goddess Look. If you really want to get an idea of what these dresses look like on try to picture one of Captain Kirk’s love interests on Star Trek going to a cocktail party.
Phillip Lim has made a very elegant silk dress for $800 in mint green. It is designed by the company Finicky Filly. The design consists of draped fabric that is twisted together and knotted on one side over the clavicle. The skirt is also pleated in a stiff accordion.
The company Mintee also is making a goddess style dress in a stone color that is embroidered with gold detailing. It is a simple gown with crossed straps in the back and gathered folds that fall to the knee. It has a high tie that makes the dress have a goddess style empire waist that drops to knee length. This dress retails for about $314.
Another good company is Foley and Corrinna which has a cotton jersey dress that is only $237. This goddess style dress is a buttery yellow and has low cut v neck from which folds of fabric fall. Ruching at the side of the dress accent the bosom.
An unbelievable tightly wrapped goddess gown is being designed by Yigal Azrouel. It is snow white and features a circlet of twisted fabric for around the neck that hitches to a beautiful tight gathering of fabric.
Christian Dior has made a beautiful purple satin gown with big shoulders and fabric wrapped around the bust. The gown drops to the floor and wraps in an enticing short fishtail around the ankles.
The Lanvin answer to a greek goddess dres is a toga style over one shulder that consists of a clasp on top of the clavicle. It is made out of a sparkling bone colored fabric. The beige makes this dress very Lanvin as the company has always made beautiful gowns in beige and flesh colors.
Nina Ricci makes an incredible gown that makes a great wedding dress. It features a tight top goddess with a fatter under bustle over which is draped yards and yards of the sheerest silk. This is a snow white confection that is very elegant and very sexy because it is so transparent. It is like a slightly erotic version of a Cinderella ball gown.
More formal is the classic Goddess dress by Marchesa which features a tight strapless floor length sheath draped with fabric over one shoulder. The waist is clasped by a broad silver belt. This is the most conservative take on floor length godde3ss gowns because it comes in a dark navy blue. It is a very conservative style.

Bright colors are a definite trend for spring and the more vivid the better. For instance the pricey Ralph Lauren collection is featuring a satin musseline dress that is a halter that is an incredibly vivid and bright canary yellow. The noted designer Valentino also did a canary yellow ball gown with fabric cabbage roses and frills cascading to the floor,
These vibrant primary and neon colors are also seen in the designs of Julie Huas, a noted designer who is selling a silk sleeveless pleated top with bright pink details. Her elegant designs are seen everywhere on the hippest of celebrities.
Bright purple is in, especially when it comes to accordion dresses. A Mischen Duchesse satin dress that goes for $850 is a vivid purple with a fuschia hue. Mario Valentino also unveiled a brilliant grape colored strapless gown with a front kick pleat that is nicely tied with a big bow.
It has been a long time since we have seen that bright electric blue on the runways. This is that color of blue known as Cyrulean blue or parrot blue that was made fun.
When it comes to more casual wear there are bright colors everywhere for Spring. Designer Jil Sanders is pairing a bright orange blazer with vivid electric pink pair of stove pipe pants. When it comes to pink Gucci gets on the act too with a short bubble gown with a strapless bodice.
These bright colors that are being adopted by the designers are definitely going to find their way into the Walmarts and Winners for the average consumer to buy. You will probably first seeing some of these primary colors in sweaters and short sleeved turtlenecks and then as spring progresses you will see them in blazers, pleated short tops and also skinny stove pipe style pants.
Florals are back and they are going to be just as brightly colored. J. Crew is putting out a frilly lipstick pink shirt that is covered with white and orange flowers. Bold colourful floral prints are also in. Thakoon makes a bright skirt with a tied sash that is splattered with brilliant bright buds. Marc Jacobs made a floral dark blue dress dress studded with bright pink blossoms.
Prada has done an amazing floral pantsuit in acid greens with bright red accents and this will definitely be found translated into more affordable fashions as well. Missoni has also done a dress in acid green that has a big pink and purple splash of color in the shape of a blossom.
This trend will also be apparent when it comes to boots and shoes which promise to be as brightly colored as the clothes on the racks. Expect to see large floral blooms on shoes as well.

One of the fiercest trends in fashion is for maternity jewellery, especially photo memory jewel. A lot of this jewel is customizable. Very poplar is the mom and baby dog tags where you can specifically request that the names of your baby and yourself be piton each tag. You can also add a third tag with Dad’s name or make up a second dog tag necklace with both baby and Daddy’s name on it. You can also have this jewellery set with custom gemstones such as birthstones. Many places can customize dog tags in less than five days. Online you can find places to customize dog tags in less than three days.
Another unique item is baby shoes that hang inside a salve heart pendant. You can get hits type of necklace in a design where the pink shoes stand for a girl baby and the blue shoes stand for a boy baby. These are called Heart-n-Sole necklaces and they are a bit pricey. In most places they cost about $160.00.
Similar is the Mom and Baby Initial Necklace which is made by Jemma Jewelry. This consists of only large disc with the mom’s initial on it and smaller one with the baby’s initial on it.
Another cool little necklace is also like a dog tag that hangs around your neck. You wear it and it tells others when you are due. Another interesting piece announces whether or not you have an “its A Boy” or “It’s a Girl” necklace.
A nice shower gift is the Love Mom Tattoo which is a slab of gold with a heart and a banner over it that says Mom. This is an especially nice gift for a trendy younger pregnant mom
Bracelets for expectant moms include ones that are engraved in the interior and have encouraging sayings in them such as “miracle”, “always”, “one love for life” and “little one.” These are for mom to wear while she is waiting to give birth and that is why they have the name waiting bracelet.
Of course baby jewellery is quite common. You can get necklaces with short chains that are specifically designed for infants and toddlers. You can pendants of all kinds including baby fairies, zodiac signs, ancient symbols and animal charms. A lot of baby jewellery is adorned with freshwater pearls.
Baby charm bracelets are also quite popular. Make sure that the style you get fits tightly around a baby’s wrist so that it does not slip off and harm the child in any way. In fact when buying baby jewellery it is important to make sure the chains are very strong and short enough that the baby cannot swallow them or strangle him or herself with them. That is why many moms and dads are opting to have their baby’s ear pierced instead. It is difficult for the baby top remove the piercing.

You no longer have to wear your husband’s big shirts if you get pregnant. Nobody is concealing their body any more. The trend is towards tight fitting maternity clothes that show off your round belly.
Most likely you won’t need to buy any maternity clothes for three or four months. By month five most women are definitely in need of some kind of special clothing to cover their baby bump. It is time to wear stretch pants or get a shirt that hangs over your belly. Forget trendy! What most pregnant women want is to be as comfortable as possible – especially in the summertime.
The key to getting funky maternity clothing that fits is to shop for maternity clothing in your size. Don’t get a bigger size. If you normally wear a size ten in non maternity wear then you will wear the same size in maternity wear.
The big trend in maternity wear is to wear low rise pants. These pants are very popular anyway as they make all women look slimmer but they are also more comfortable. Most pregnant women like them because they look like regular clothing. They work best in the first and second trimester because by the last trimester they can feel a bit too snug. It also helps to buy items that are stretchy. Look for items that have four to ten percent spandex in them so that the clothing will grow along with your expanding pregnant tummy.
It is also best to buy maternity clothing in a solid color as stripes and loud prints will make you look a lot larger than you are. Stick to a solid color if you do not want to look too big.
When it comes to tops for maternity wear you want to try the baby doll look. This is a style with an empire waist and long scoop sleeves. This disguises the bump quite well in the later months. This same type of style also works very well for maternity style dresses. Sometimes a cowl neck with the empire style bodice is also very nice are you wanted to make your swelling breasts look smaller.
One style that is very in and that works very well for maternity clothes is the Kimono Dress. This is a wrap around style that can grow with you during your pregnancy and to top it off it is also a very hip look.
Summer dresses can be easily accommodated to fit pregnant bodies especially if you go for loose cotton styles. In the winter you can keep warm by wearing one of the wide ribbed turtlenecks made by the maternity wear company called Japanese Weekend. This is a simple cut of turtleneck that adds a wide band of fabric at the bottom that can easily expand along with your belly.

If you are plus size you are probably used to wearing fat lady underwear. This is big white underwear with a high waist and low thigh cut. However this is not that unfashionable any more thanks to Madonna who was stripping down onstage to reveal this type of “old fat lady” underwear in beige.
If you want to follow the Madonna trend one of the sexiest things you can get is the one piece girdle which fits over your bra and underwear. It hangs by two thin straps and serves to slenderises the upper and lower stomach, the buttocks and the thighs. It is sexy because it is sheer and it cinches everything in nicely. This type of garment is often called a Slim n Lift Garment.
You can also get really great plus size lingerie sleep wear that is done in stretchy lycra fabrics with frills and lace. This type of underwear comes down far enough so that the midriff is covered. Leopard lycra is especially sought after by that Plus Size crowd that is looking for sexy or trendy underwear.
For just casual wear boyshorts are in. Fruit in the Loom has been specialized in making these in bright vivid colors and lateral stripes that you usually don’t associate with the overweight set.
Also very sexy are black see through chiffon shirts with long sleeves. These shirts just help make any outfit sexier while at the same time concealing parts of the body such as the upper arms.
Plus size corsets are also very sexy. You can get plus size corset busters in every kind of fabric, vinyl or leather imaginable. Purple, white royal blue and other colors also make unique merry widow ensembles.
Bustiers come in different styles for different bodies. A black corset bustier can have peekaboo laces or they can tie up in a way that completely conceals the body and it makes it slimmer. A bustier can be low cut, straight cut or even supported by straps are a halter style. Some inventive styles even look a bit like tuxedos. For women who are very overweight you can get gothic types of corset that are looser and feature a tightly tied bodice that is framed by bell cut chiffon sleeves that conceal heavier upper arms and wrists.
Plus size corsets come in all kinds of different colors including the red violet satin, white, apricot, and the usual blacks and reds. To really hold the body in consider getting one that is boned. The boned black satin lace up corset helps tuck everything in and give the overweight woman a more luxurious and sexy shape.
Also very trendy, even for plus size women, is sexy black vinyl fetish bustiers and thongs. These usually come decked out with contrasting pink or red frills. To complete the look wear a sexy black pair of vinyl pumps as well.
