How to Buy a Bra

Buying a bra is not rocket science but it might feel like it is sometimes. Mostly it is a matter of knowing your size and also it is a matter of comfort. For instance some women feel better in a brassiere that feels like it is giving them some support and other women like light loose feeling fabrics.

Mostly you will feel best in a bra that actually its you. This means knowing your correct size and a bit about what types of fabrics don’t irritate your skin. You need to know your correct size. A bra that is too loose or too tight can make your clothing look ill fitting or rumpled. If the straps are too tight you can look like you are slouching or like you have unsightly fat bulges. A really great fitting brassiere can actually correct your posture. One thing for sure – getting a bra that fits well is necessary to create a flawless looking figure.

If your bra doesn’t fit right you can suffer from skin chafing, muscle tension, back problems and headaches. You need to get an expert to help you get the proper fit if you are clueless about how to measure yourself. Getting measured by lingerie sales professional is quite crucial if you are a teenage because as you grow older you can expand quite rapidly. If you are an adolescent girl you may need to get measured every couple of months or so.

Another thing to consider when buying a bra is what kind of lifestyle you actually lead. You can buy lingerie developed to suit all of these lifestyles. Some styles are for support, others are for style and others are structured for comfort. You can also buy special athletic bras and tight body fitting bras attached to body-length girdles that help keep you tucked in.

If you are a teen your first bra is likely to be training one. These bras do not have cups and look like flat triangles of fabric. They are meant to provide some coverage for women who are just starting to come into womanhood. However not every adolescent girl starts with a training bra. Some teens need B or even C cup molded bras quite quickly.

Teens also do well in very light support bras. Many of them are cut so well nowadays they do not need that cutting underwire. Even women with fuller breasts are wearing them for comfort nowadays but you should keep in mind that they feel less restrictive. Many lighter support bras are designed for the flat cheated woman and have some light foam padding in them that helps make the breasts look bigger.

This type of lingerie also usually has underwire or plastic boning beneath the cups. This is recommended for larger individuals and plus size women. These bras can help eliminate the back pain that women with very large full breasts sometimes get.

However the main purpose of a well designed push up underwire bras is to show off the woman’s cleavage. These bras also often have inserts or pads that shape the breasts.

Yellow and Brown Diamond Fever

Is a canary diamond really the same color as the yellow bird it is named for? The answer is that they can be. Usually the brighter the yellow the more likely it is to be lab created. The browner it is the more real it is likely to be. The really brown diamonds are really fashion fierce right now and usually referred to as “chocolate” diamonds.

A few years ago the bright yellow diamonds were more in style. They were made popular by stars like Paris Hilton and Jennifer Lopez who first began popularizing these diamonds a few years ago. Yellow diamonds are also known as fancy diamonds and belong in a category of colored diamonds that include green diamonds, black diamonds and pink diamonds. These types of diamonds look great in a square or princess cut of some kind. They also are often seen cut in the new oval shape of diamond that is so popular now as well. The look of them is very retro and you seem them in styles that are reminiscent of cocktail rings that were made from the turn of the century to the 1940s.

The trouble with these enchanting canary diamonds which are also sometimes called cognac or brown diamonds is that they are really expensive. Ordinary people does not often afford the natural ones. A natural canary diamond can cost as much as five thousand dollars a carat. A canary stone like the one that Jennifer Lopez sports on her finger is rare and expensive.

Sometimes you can get a yellow diamond that varies in color so that it almost appears to be a lime green. These are really rare. The yellow canaries that have a flash of orange in them are also coveted by the jet set.

For many years most of these yellow diamonds were mined in India but nowadays Brazil also produces them. For about three hundred years both South Africa and Brazil have also been supplying them. The brightest yellow of the natural diamonds have always been found in Africa. The yellow diamonds that come from Brazil are often also known as Cape Diamonds.

There is also a certain type of very pale yellow diamond that hails from South Africa that is sometimes called the Cape Yellow or Cape White. These diamonds are quite traditional and valuable. High class types often have them set in their wedding and engagement rings.

Basically the lighter the tint of yellow in a cape diamond the more valuable it is. The straw yellow color is the most popular and desirable type of canary style of diamond.

If you want that straw color you need to go for a lab created gems. Many of the lab created gems that are the most realistic and brilliant looking actually come from Russia.

There are all kinds of gorgeous cocktail ring styles that are currently trendy but you can find yellow diamonds in all sorts of other setting formats such as pendants and bracelets.

Princess Cut Diamonds Are Hot!

There was a little craze last year for the round brilliant cut diamonds but this year the princess cut diamonds are hot again. The round brilliant cut diamond engagement ring is a little more common.

The reason the princess cut diamond ring is popular again is because large rings with big step cut stones have that cocktail hour kind of flair. The other thing that is interesting about a prince’s cut is that the cutting style can make a smaller stone look bigger. This is laterally because the cut also conserves more of the stone in the original diamond. It is also very flashy stone because of the way it catches the light. There is simply more surface on the stone itself to catch the light.

The princess cut is also very Art Deco looking and the fashion world is currently mad for items that are reminiscent of the era. Not so much in clothing but definitely in jeweler, shoes and other accessories. It is also a very crisp looking design that is very minimalist in appearance. The 1940s style of the cut looks as fresh and contemporary today when it first appeared at the turn of the twentieth century.

One thing that must be noted is that the princess cut does not really suit a stone of lower quality. It best suits high quality diamonds. These diamonds are also often worth more because the stone must be good and because there is less of the stone carved away by the diamond cutter. The bigger a diamond is the more it is obviously worth. The flat surface of the stone is also flat and only stepped at the edges. It does not have as many facets as a round stone. This means it is not as sparkly and more flaws show up in the stone.

People say this is one of the optimum cuts for a diamond because it helps it retain its value. However it also creates a more delicate stone. The edges of the princess cut are more vulnerable to being broken because they are so sharp. The solution to this is to opt for a “cushion” version of the princess cut. This keeps the rectilinear shape but at the same time rounds off the corners. The way to avoid damage to a princess cut stone is to put it in a bezel setting. However most people prefer to the showcase the stone high up off the hand in a band. A double band of metal in a V setting can also help set the stone more securely so it can not fall out of a claw like silver or gold grasp.

The best way to protect the princess cuts tone is to simply not wear it w hale you are doing any work that might risk damaging the stone’s integrity. This includes things like playing certain types of board games, working out or doing the dishes. Take the ring off to protect it.

The Sexiest Lingerie Options

There are many different kinds of lingerie in these enlightened times that are considered to be quite sexy . The little list of items below also describes items that make great gifts for any girlfriend, wife or mistress in your life! (if you happen to be a man stuck for ideas and reading this.)

The Push Up Bra – The push up bra has been around for many years and nowadays they are more comfortable than ever. Women that wear these types of brassieres end up with a gorgeous enhanced cleavage. Even very flat women look quite voluptuous in a push up bra. These bras, which can be done up in the back or front, can also make a person feel sexier. Some push up bras feel like real breasts and also jiggle like real breast tissue. That is because they are made out of gel. Some have foam inserts that can be removed. Almost all push up bras have underwire.

The Low Rise Panty – This is a panty with a high cut leg hole and low cut waste. They are usually made of lace or satin. Aside from the cut this type of panty is also sexy because it is laced up the back with ribbon. They come in sexy patterns like pink satin and leopard prints.

The Baby Doll Hater – This is that Ann Margeret style of night time seducer outfit. All women can wear this because fabric curtains from the bra and hides all kinds of figure flaws. Basically it is a bra top with fabric flowing down. The bra is usually a front closing one and the bottoms can be sexy panties or thongs. The empire waist that is created with this type of bra design is also very flattering.

The Garter Skirt – This is a garment that looks like a cross between the garter belt and a very short mini skirt made out of lace to which are attached garters. The garters, of course, attach to a pair of stockings. Women like this style because it can conceal a less than perfect rear end as well as conceal the stomach.

Camisole and Capri Pants –This is a set that look traditional camisole and panty set only it covers up quite a bit more. It is still very sexy and these are often made of lace or wild satin patterns. This type of contemporary sexy underwear tends to suit the woman who is more modest or self-conscious about her body.

The Sexy Velvet Robe – This type of cover up is very “Scar Face.” Until that movie in the eighties many women wore sheer or terry cloth robes. These robes are very sexy especially if they have low cut collars and bell sleeves. You can also get velour versions but the height of erotica is the red or black velvet robe. The black velvet robe looks especially fetching on slightly heavier women.

In Search of the Summer Bra

One of the biggest challenges of summer time is finding a bra that fits. The best ones are the ones that are going to go unnoticed under your top. Flaunting those skimpy tnak, halter or tube tops is much easier if you are not feeling self-concious about the way they look.

A good style to wear under the summer top is a demi bra. Most summer tops tend to have low cut necklines so these work very well for that. They also push up the breasts and tend to have thinner straps then most bras. This means that if your bra strap does show it is not as unseemly looking as a thick elastic strap.

The flesh tone bras blend nicely with skin tones and they also make the bra look less obvious. This is an especially good thing when you are wearing white or pastel colors.

Racer and cross back bras also are good expecially if you are wearing a T-shirt that also has a racer or cross back style. This also prevents the bra straps from peeking out. At least if they do peek out is also not that big of a deal.

Strapless bras look great, especially on strapless summer dresses. However if you are not very chesty they can slip down. They look better with thicker tops rather than thinner ones. If you are intent on wearing strapless bar make sure that it is does not have seams or underwires.

You can also get rid of the velvet, lace and other heavier looking bras in the summer. They are too obvious looking under a summer top. The best fabrics are the light, silky and smooth ones such as satin or cotton.

You could also for a U-plunge bra. This type of bra is shaped like a U and goes best with very low cut tops and V neck tops. Many styles like this also have some wiring on the side that pushes the breasts together to give you a bit of cleavage. They also are good for wearing with really open style halter types.

Backless bras are good for tops that have a similar design. Note that they work best for women with small to medium size busts. These are made of super light fabrics that are very light.

You can also get bras that have clear plastic straps. These are not as noticeable as a lacy or elastic brassiere strap. Some people like the look of this type of lingerie but other people can’t stand it as it reminds them of the way that clothes look when they are hung on hangars.

One of the easiest solutions is to wear a built in bra. This item of clothing is just a tank top or t-shirt with the top built in. There is probably no cooler option in the summer. They certainly take the anxiety out of trying to find a bra that goes well with your summer top.

Lourdes Leon - Fashion Victim?

One of the most interesting little people in fashion lately is Lourdes Leon. She is one of the most well dressed little girls in the world thanks to her mother Madonna who makes millions. The question though is Madonna a bit off when it comes to her kid’s fashion choices lately?

First of all there is the matter of Lourde’s glasses. They are huge. They in fact take up half of her face. They are in the same style as that cartoon character called Mr. Magoo. They are heavy and black rimmed. I think the last time these were in style was in the early eighties when male celebrities like Robert Evans and Al Pacino wore them. Not so sure these are the right clothes for a little girl. Plus these glasses seem so heavy for such a little girl. Don’t they hurt her nose? They must leave a red mark that looks like an iron burn. Optometrists have spent years perfecting these really light, nice spectacles for little girls so they don’t have to look like Ugly Betty or Groucho Marx by choice. Doesn’t Madonna know this?

Lourdes is also seen wearing some pretty sexy looking running shoes lately. These shoes include these lace up silk and satin pairs that tie up right to calves. The unfortunate thing about this look “For kids” is that it is just a tad sado-masochistic. These shoes look like pink versions of the kind of things you would see babes in ancient Rome wearing to an orgy at Caligula’s place. Although we are definitely getting from Lourdes Leon that she is on the cutting edge when it comes to wearing the gladiator style that is so in right now it is also important to remember that she is only eleven years old. This style looks like it belongs in her mother’s famous book called Sex.

Then there is the whole black t shirt thing. This little kid wears a lot of black t-shirts. Isn’t that a little somber for a young girl? They have plenty of time to wear black when they are older.

I guess Lourdes has lots of security guards around because she wears these two huge rocks on ears. This is like bait to people who might try to the grab a child.

The point is that you need to be careful when looking at pictures of celebrity kids. Not all of the fashions that celebrities make their kids wear would be appropriate for your kids. Celebrity fashions for kids sometimes have these unpleasant allusions – to things like dominatrixes, sex slaves and Ugly Betties. The thing is that no kid wants to be sexualized or desexualized by adopting these fashions. They are attractive and fashionable but in an odd way send out the wrong message.

Madonna always says that Lourdes always picks out her own clothes. If it is true then this kid has an expensive and rather mixed up image of herself. It’s a cross between Mr. Magoo and Sailor Moon. It will be interesting to see what she starts wearing when she starts developing more female characteristics.

Must Have Spring Frocks

The dress is going to make a big comeback for this spring, especially those styles that are belted at the waist. However many other colors and styles are going to make an appearance just in time for summer’s global warming trends as well.
Breezy dresses in linen and neon colors are in style and you can expect them to be a little longer than tea length this season. Dresses with longer, almost voluminous looking skirts will also be in style. The effect will be very fifties.
You will be able to find long cotton dresses in colors like bright pink and lime green as well. Project Runway judge and famous fashion designer Michael Kars is making a bright pink summer dress called The Pink Flamingo Dress for Spring 2008. That kind of Miami beach pink and green is likely to be popular in fabric colors this spring and summer as well.
Tribal geometric patterns that are a definite throwback to the artistic tastes of the early sixties are also going to be in vogue. James Coviello is an example of a designer that is working with materials like this and making sundresses that can withstand the next heat wave.
Dresses that are gray paired with metallic gray sandals or a gray scarf are also going to be popular this spring. Any type of shiny metallic fabric is going to be the right fashionable touch thanks to outfits shown last fall by designer Bill Blass. Olives, beiges, lavenders and soft lilacs will also be in fashion.
However if you hate conservative or solid colors you need not despair, as large bold Hawaiian shirt style prints will also be in vogue complete with filly details such as ruffles, lace, and intricate pleats.
It seems when it comes to dress length it is going to be either the choice of a maxi or mini dress with not much choice in between. You can expect quite a few of the dresses on the racks to seem to be very Valley of the Dolls in flair as seventies style cuts of clothing are also still very much in fashion.
Not all hems on these dresses will be cut straight across. Yet another trend will be the slightly asymmetrical hem with one side or the back being a little longer. Thankfully the bubble skirt will more likely be gone for good as well.
These dresses are likely to look best accessorized with clunky-heeled shoes or wedges in solid colors. Chunky shiny jewelry is also in vogue especially if you can find it in Lucite. Lucite heels are still in as long as they are not spike heels. Many companies are manufacturing chunky plexi glass platforms to go with these dresses that are so inspired by the sixties and seventies.

Belt Trends for Spring 2007

Last summer we all suffered through the respiratory effects of having to wear wide leather or patent leather corset belts on top of our straight or peasant skirts. Finally that trend is over and instead we can look forward to wearing much skinnier belts all of this summer. However one trend that woman who are a little heavier won’t like is that many of these narrower belts are meant to be worn quite high on the waist. The problem with this is that a skinnier belt worn higher on the waist can accentuate a thick waist, thick hips or fatter thighs. To make you look taller never cinch in a belt completely at the waist. Instead let it drop a few inches.
Skinny belts are going to available in every single kind of material known to man including leather, patent leather, snake like metal, plastic, fabric, vinyl and chain link. The buckles on these belts for spring will also be a lot smaller than we have seen in a long time.
One trend will be towards novelty belt buckles that look like bows, fairies, flora or fauna. This type of belt buckle will likely also have rhinestones or a bit of sparkle to them. That great big red belt with the buckle the size of a small ukulele that was so in last spring is definitely a fad that is finally over for good.
The other main trend in belt buckles will be the military look complete with clamshell type square clasping mechanisms, capped metal belt ends and other details. In fact one of the biggest trends forecast for both men and women this season is the military style canvas belt in a green or olive color but not as wide as we have seen in it manifest as a trend in the past.
As many of these skinnier belts are made to cinch the waist hey are going to look best around a skirt or over a loose shirt over skinny pants. Another trend that you are going to be able to buy ready made in a store is the belted jacket. However you can always make your own belted jacket simply by wearing a belt with it. The best style of jackets for this type of belting is jackets that are more seventies or eighties in flair. The jacket that looks best with a skinny belt is high waited and has a bit of frill about it like a slightly flounced hem or a bit of a puff to the shoulder. Jackets with rounded lapels or bell sleeves also look very nice with a skinny belt; especially a black patent or metallic colored one with a demure buckle.

Trends in Scarves for 2008

Everyone predicted that the scarf would be huge for Spring 2008 including Tobe who is a fashion forecaster (with a one word name) who accurately predicts trends every year. It seems that this year Tobe was right as silk scarves are popping up everywhere – around the head, around the waist, around the neck and even sticking out of a back pocket as was so popular in the late sixties and early seventies. The only difference is that back then it could be used to denote your sexual preference. If the scarf was draped out of the left pocket it meant you were gay.
After quite a long absence from the social scene scarves are back. According to Charlotte Saunders who wrote an article for Marie Claire in January 2008 called “What You Will Be Wearing This summer” the printed silk scarf would be the most versatile and sought after add on. The scarf is recommended as an addition to any drab outfit to either liven it up or make it seem more dignified.
The scarf is also making a comeback, as a hair band only the effect is not as grungy as this trend was a few years ago. The idea is not to look like farmer’s maid but more like Jackie Onassis relaxing on a yacht. The hair band should be thickly folded and boast a bold print.
A lot of people will tie it right around the neck however one nice effect is to also tie it under the collar of a dress shirt as you would a cravats or tie. Silk scarves also look nice tied in a bow. Yet another look that is in vogue is to wear it with a triangle shape pointing down in front.
Longer scarves are also seen being worn as belts and even looped through the disks or links of chain belts to make them seem more silky or elegant.
There are going to be many different types of prints available when it comes to wearing scarves this summer but two of the most popular of prints available are probably going to be skulls and crossbones and stars. Any type of permutation of the American flag might also be popular thanks to the entire buzz around elections.
Another pattern you are going to see everywhere is the herringbone pattern. This pattern is also considered to be a little bit punk in flair especially if it is done in non-traditional colors (other than ivory or black) such as red and purple or fuchsia and black. It would not be uprising at all to see these looks on the younger crowds, especially on girls that are into Avril Lavigne. However the herringbone scarf is also staid enough for most older adults to wear to work.

Current Shoe Trends

There are some trends happening in the world of shoes that are predominating the fashion world right now. For instance if you are wearing a see through heel or a spike heel you are a little bit out of style. You are also out of style if you are wearing a court heel (at least if you are living in Canada or the U.S.). It is much more common to see low court or high heels in the United Kingdom
When it comes to shoes chunkier and clunker are better but not so much that we are thinking it is the seventies. Still the styles of the seventies including wedges, platforms and thick high heels are definitely back. As they are not so heavy as shoes boasting these trends have been in the last few years they are a little more comfortable than usual.
Of course all of these platforms and wedges are good news for people who are short. It allows shorter women to fake being five foot nine without having to sacrifice their balance. The reason that these shoes are easier to walk in than stiletto or pump style heels is that they distribute the weight of the foot evenly over the entire shoe. This prevents your foot from wobbling. The less stress on your ankle the better when you are walking on high heels so make sure that you can walk without compromising them.
The round toe is in but the slightly squared toe is also catching up with current trends. Also in are metallic’s, animal prints like leopard and zebra and shiny patent leather.
To make the transition to spring we are going to see a lot of sling backs with a platform and chunky heel. These will probably be available in every type of patent leather. Burburry Prorsum Platforms are a good example of this type of shoe.
Charles David, always on the cutting edge of shoe fashions, is making wedges with a black chunky heel with leopard skin toe straps and ankle straps.
Esperadilles are going to be everywhere and both Nine West and BCBG Max Azaria are making wedgie models in both regular leather and shiny patent leather. In fact one of the latest trends in wedding shoes is the silver or gold metallic esperadille with gladiator style straps that twine up the leg.
The good news is that flats are very much in style this summer as well including the flat gladiator sandal (if you want a bit of glamour.) Charles David is making a flat in cheetah like prints fabric.
To keep your feet at their healthiest it is the best idea to alternate high heels with flat shoes. This helps prevent damage to the feet such as bunions and the condition of “flat feet.”
